Upper Aves
The Upper Aves is known for its traditional neighborhoods
offering views of the city and mountains all within 5 minutes to downtown, the
University of Utah and several hospitals.
Quiet streets, diverse architecture plus cultural and philosophical
diversity make this a choice area stretching from 9th Ave. up to Edgehill Dr.
above 18th Ave. Capitol
Park is a recent
development on the site of the old Primary Children's Hospital above 11th Ave.
and appeals to those seeking newer construction within city boundaries.
Ensign Elementary School, located next to 11th Avenue
Park, has the reputation of being one of the finer
elementary schools in the Salt Lake School District. From Ensign,
students matriculate through Bryant Intermediate School and West High.
In addition to 11th Avenue Park, which boasts eight
tennis courts, two soccer fields and a jogging track, Lindsey Gardens
Park is another alternative. This park features two softball fields
and one baseball diamond.
The Old Salt Lake Cemetary borders the Upper Aves as well as the private pool, Northcrest. Besides being a retreat from the summer heat and a popular
gathering place for neighborhood children, Northcrest also fields
swimming and diving teams that compete against other clubs throughout
the valley.
One view is enough reason to see why residents love living here.
